Sierra will graduate in May of 2020 with a Bachelors in Architectural Engineering with a focus in Structures along with two minors in Applied Mathematics and Architectural Studies. Sierra will also be graduating with her Masters in Architectural Engineering. Sierra will be working full time with the structural forensic and building technology firm Simpson Gumpertz and Heger in Washington, D.C. upon graduation.
Sierra has completed internships with Wiss Janney Elstner Associates in structural forensics and building technology in Washington, D.C. in the summer of 2019, as well as with Grunley Construction in construction management in Washington, D.C. in the summer of 2018. In the Summer of 2017, Sierra completed a study abroad program with the Penn State Architectural Engineering Department studying architecture and engineering throughout Italy.
Throughout her college career, Sierra has been involved in a variety of extracurricular activities. She has been a mathematics tutor at Liontutors, Inc.in a range of collegiate courses from algebra too calculus. Sierra joined the Structural Engineering Association (SEA), Student Society of Architectural Engineering (SSAE) and became a member of the Alpha Phi Fraternity in Fall 2016 and actively participated throughout her years at Penn State. Sierra was an active member in the PSU AE Department while becoming a teaching intern for Introduction to Structural Analysis (AE 308) her fourth year to grading four different classes her fifth year including the Civil Engineering Structural senior capstone projects.

Rebecca Might
Rebecca will graduate in May of 2020 with a Bachelors in Architectural Engineering with a focus in Structures and a Masters in Architectural Engineering. After graduation, Rebecca will be moving from her hometown near Pittsburgh, PA to the Washington DC area to work as a Repair and Restoration Engineer for SK&A.
Rebecca has completed internships with Cagley & Associates in the Summer of 2019, with Stantec Inc. in the Summer of 2018, and with Walsh Construction in the summer of 2016. During Summer 2017, she studied abroad with the Penn State Architectural Engineering Department studying architecture and engineering throughout Italy.
Rebecca acted as the Family Relations THON Chair for Penn State's chapter of the Student Society of Architectural Engineers. THON is a student-run philanthropy committed to enhancing the lives of children and families impacted by childhood cancer. Organizations like SSAE can "adopt" a THON family to provide emotional support. Throughout her time as FR Chair, SSAE's involvement with their THON family grew immensely, and the club was able to stand with the family through the hardest time of their lives. Rebecca stood for 46 hours in her final THON in honor of SSAE's THON child.
Rebecca completed daily pushups with the other members of the Structural Design Team (David and Sierra) in an attempt to bulk up for the competition. She also prides herself in holding three intramural volleyball championship titles. Penn State has given Rebecca a quality education and the best memories. Upon entering the industry, she will hold herself to the highest standard in order to represent the university and the engineering profession in the brightest light.
David will graduate in May of 2020 as the Architectural Engineering Student Marshall with a Bachelors in Architectural Engineering focusing on structural design . After graduation, David will be working full time for Ryan Biggs Clark Davis in Skaneateles Falls, New York.
David has completed internships with Hope Furrer Associates in structural design as well as with both Whiting Turner and Poole Anderson Construction where he practiced construction management. Also while attending Penn State, David served in the US Army National Guard as a section sergeant from 2014 to 2020.
Throughout his college career, David was involved in the Structural Engineering Association (SEA) and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). As the 2019 secretary of NAHB, David participated in the NAHB 2019 national student design competition where Penn State took second place.
When he isn't working, David enjoys carpentry and light construction for local charities.

Laura Hinkle
In May 2020, Laura will be graduating from The Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor and Master of Architectural Engineering with a focus in Lighting/Electrical Systems. Following graduation, Laura will be continuing her education at Penn State in the Architectural Engineering PhD program.
She interned at Lutron Electronics in Coopersburg, PA as a lighting controls specifier and as an electrical engineer at Bard, Rao + Athanas Consulting Engineers in Boston and SmithGroup in Detroit. In 2019, she received the Designers Lighting Forum of New York (DLFNY) Student Achievement Award. Her involvement on campus included acting as a mentor and envoy for the Women in Engineering Program, in addition to serving on the Society of Women Engineers leadership team for two years. She lead K-12 STEM outreach and campus tours as an Engineering Ambassador beginning her sophomore year. Laura also worked as a teaching assistant for an introductory engineering design course for two years.
As Laura’s educational career continued, she became interested in research and currently a member of Penn State’s Building Design Group. She will continue to pursue her interests in computational design and optimization during graduate school. Laura has truly enjoyed her undergraduate career at Penn State, working with students, faculty, and industry members, serving as both a mentor and ambassador for the program. She hopes to continue her involvement after graduation and looks forward to obtaining her PhD.
Maria will graduate in May of 2020 with a Bachelor's Degree in Architectural Engineering and a minor in Architectural History from The Pennsylvania State University. Her studies focused on the Lighting/Electrical option of the major.
Maria developed a passion for the lighting/electrical option during her freshman year at Penn State. Throughout her time at Penn State she has had internships with two lighting design firms. During the summer of 2018 she interned with Horton Lees Brogden Lighting Design in San Francisco, CA where she was first introduced to lighting design. Maria continued to gain valuable industry experience through her internship with Office for Visual Interaction in New York City, NY during the summer of 2019. In addition to her internship experience, Maria became a Teaching Assistant during her 5th year at Penn State.
In addition to her studies, Maria was involved with the Student Society of Architectural Engineers (SSAE) and the Penn State Student Chapter of IES. During her 5th year, she accepted the role of IES vice-president.
After graduation, Maria will be moving to Detroit, MI to work with SmithGroup as a Lighting Designer. Her experience gained through the Penn State AE program and her internships will aid her during her career. Additionally, Maria plans to get her LC license.
In her spare time, Maria enjoys running, strength training, road trips, movies, and spending time with friends.

As of May 2020, Demi will graduate from The Pennsylvania State University with both Bachelor’s and Master’s of Architectural Engineering degrees with a focus in the mechanical option, along with a minor in Mathematics Applications. Following graduation, Demi will begin working at Bard, Rao, + Athanas Consulting Engineers, LLC in Vienna, VA as an Engineer-In-Training.
Throughout his 5 years at Penn State, Demi has completed a structural internship with Cagley and Associates, Consulting Structural Engineers in Bethesda, MD and a mechanical internship with Bard, Rao, + Athanas Consulting Engineers, LLC in McClean, VA. Demi’s passion for the built environment has allowed him to take interests in the various aspects of the design practice. Throughout his internships, Demi has worked on a variety of renovation and healthcare projects, including designs for operating rooms, research labs, and proton therapy treatment rooms.
While at Penn State, Demi was a committee member of the Student Transition Engineering Program, helping mentor incoming students in their transition to the University Park campus. He was a part of the Penn State Student Chapter of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and the Student Society of Architectural Engineering (SSAE). In addition to his studies, Demi played intramural soccer as the captain of the Architectural Engineering Fútbol Club (AEFC). Outside of school, Demi enjoys running, playing soccer, cooking, photography, and spending time with friends.
Demi has greatly enjoyed his time at Penn State working with faculty and industry members and is looking for to continuing his pursuit of knowledge in industry
Rachel will be graduating from The Pennsylvania State University with a Masters and Bachelors Degree in Architectural Engineering with a focus on Mechanical Systems. Following graduation, Rachel will begin work at Southland Industries in Dulles, Virginia as a Design Engineer I.
Over her 5 years at Penn State, Rachel has completed two internships in construction with James G. Davis Construction in Rockville, Maryland, and one internship in mechanical design with EXP, Inc. in Orlando, Florida. Additionally, Rachel spent 7 weeks studying abroad in China and Hong Kong during the summer after her 3rd year. Rachel has worked as a TA at Penn State for two years for the introductory AE mechanical classes taught by Moses Ling.
During her time at school, Rachel played a very active role in the AE community by serving four years on the board for the Penn State Student Society of Architectural Engineers, three years on the Penn State ASHRAE board, and one year on the AEI National Student Officer board. In addition to her roles within AE, Rachel was involved with other organizations that encompassed students throughout the College of Engineering. This included serving as an Engineering Ambassador for two years and serving on the Women in Engineering Orientation Program leadership board for two years.
Rachel has very much enjoyed her time at Penn State working with students, faculty, and industry members serving as both a mentor to younger students and an ambassador to professionals for the program. She hopes to continue her involvement in the industry after graduation and looks forward to starting work in the industry

Ryan Sayre
Ryan will graduate in May of 2020 with an Integrated Bachelor and Master of Architectural Engineering with a focus in the mechanical option. Following graduation, Ryan will begin his career as a mechanical designer at Bard, Rao, + Athanas Consulting Engineers, LLC at the Philadelphia, PA office.
Ryan has had summer internships with Penn State at the Navy Yard in 2017, Envinity in 2018, and SmithGroup in 2019. Throughout his internships, Ryan has studied battery storage system implementation, worked on projects involving energy retrofits and energy data analytics, and worked as a mechanical designer for government buildings, museums, and a historic renovation.
During his time at Penn State, Ryan has served four years on the executive board of the Student Society of Architectural Engineers and two years on the executive board of the Penn State Student ASHRAE Chapter. Ryan has been a teaching assistant for the Penn State courses of AE202 and AE310. Outside of Engineering, Ryan has been involved in various clubs on campus. Ryan has served on committees as well as headed a committee at the Pennsylvania High School United Nations Conference. He has also volunteered with the Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon as a committee member and under a fundraising organization. Outside of school, Ryan enjoys cooking, hiking, crabbing, crossword puzzles, and spending time with friends and family.
Sam Dzwill
Sam will graduate in May of 2020 with a Bachelors in Architectural Engineering in the Construction Management option. Following graduation Sam will begin his career with Turner Construction Co. in Philadelphia, who he has had internships with for the last four years.
Over the last four years of internships Sam has seen a myriad of different projects mostly consisting of renovations in active healthcare facilities. Over the 2019 summer Sam was able to work on campus on the Henning Building Replacement Project where he oversaw demolition and aided in preconstruction engineering tasks.
In his college career Sam was involved in a verity of different activities such as merchandise committee member for the THON Organization Eclipse, produced graphics for the AE department, and assisted the Penn State team in NASA’s 3D-Printed Mars Habitat Challenge. In his spare time Sam enjoys cooking, hiking, strength training, and working on projects such as woodworking or restoring technology.
Isabella Vesce
Isabella will graduate from the Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelors in Architectural Engineering focused in the Construction Management option. Isabella enjoys the ability to work in construction and being exposed to different and almost all sides of the industry. Not only committing to field supervision, project management and scheduling but also having the ability to interact in a fast paced environment with other professional executives.
During the Summer of 2017 internship, Isabella worked at Design Related Builders, a full-service architecture and design firm in Miami Florida. The following Summer of 2018, Isabella worked with Turner Construction Co. in a full floor office renovation with the Special Projects and Interior team in Philadelphia, PA.
Summer of 2019 the internship was with Southland Industries as a remote intern in Philadelphia, PA. With Southland, Isabella worked in the Operations team on the Penn Medicine Project (The Pavilion) for the University of Pennsylvania. Here, Isabella got exposure to the Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) method in the real world and on high level standards. Tasked with verification of core and sleeve penetrations, mechanical system data takeoffs for labor feedback and development of equipment diagrams for mechanically equipped floors, Isabella had the perfect exposure for subcontractor mechanical work. After graduation, Isabella will be working with Southland Industries as a Project Engineer based out of their Dulles, Virginia office.
During her studies at Penn State, Isabella was part of the executive board of the Student Society of Architectural Engineers (SSAE) for two years, the first year as Marketing Director and the following year as Administrative Vice President. In addition, Isabella was an ongoing member of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) for networking opportunities and national conferences.
In her spare time, Isabella likes to read, paint, snowboard and CrossFit.
